No Post Today - Hiding Out

In honor of April Fool's Day I am hiding under the bed.

I know it's hard to resist jumping out and scaring me as I come around the corner.

Telling me that we've run out of kibble and water.

Hiding my toys in the barbeque.

Getting me excited about my new sweater just to put it on me and it's 2 sizes too small.

Getting out the leash then going back to bed.

Asking me if I want string cheese then eating it yourself while averting your eyes from my pleading sad face.

Taking the milk bones out of the treat can then asking me if I want a cookie. "Oh, you ate them all."

Tapping away at they keyboard while saying "I'm deleting Marley & Me from our Netflix queue. Only to find out that it's sitting in the red envelope ready for tonight's dinner viewing.

Playing Marley & Me during MY dinner time.

So I am staying under the bed until April 2nd. But don't worry, I've already emptied the kibble and treat containers. I also emptied the fridge of all bottled water. I'll be fine.

One Piece of Kibble at a Time

Every day I get an email reminding me to click and answer a trivia question.

Some days I ignore it.

Others I make a short lived mental note to click later.

Today I remembered and visited freekibble.com

http://bit.ly/freekibble donates 10 pieces of kibble to shelters for every trivia question answered.

10 pieces doesn't sound like much. Jackson eats 3 cups of food a day. But here are the stats on their site today:

304,006,330 pieces of kibble since 04/01/08

That's 2,812,455 meals for animals that are in desperate need of a home.

Jackson was rescued by a woman named Leslie Moniot. Not a non-profit group, just one woman trying to make a difference. She was unable to place him and sent him to a rescue as a last resort.

The rescue receives a sizable donation of food from Natural Balance but still struggles to care for their dogs.

Shelters and rescues alike need all the help they can get every day, not just when it's convenient or money is plentiful.

I'm going to make an effort to click more often. 15 seconds a day is a bargain for 10 pieces of kibble!

Customer Service for Pups

A few months ago my cousin Vanessa (vet in training) recommended the Gentle Leader head collar by Premier Products LLC.

Being 4' 9", it was difficult to walk my 70 lb. dog. He was a decent walker from the get go. Never stops to pee or poop and only sniffs around if there's someone nearby.

However, he is dog and cat aggressive. My biggest fear was that he would get into a fight or take off in chase of an animal. I'd have no way of stopping him. He's just too strong.

I went to Petco to look for this head collar thing and found 2 brands. While the other brand was a few dollars less, I trusted Vanessa and shelled out the $24.99 for the Gentle Leader.

Then came the day my dog ate his accessories!

We had company and Jackson had to be leashed. 1st he ate his head collar, then his "good" leash.

I replaced them but thought I'd view the instructional CD that comes with the Gentle Leader.

At the end there's a message that they have a discounted replacement program for dogs who chew through their collars.

Wait, what?

Yup, I emailed them and for a fraction of the cost of a new collar they mailed me a brand new replacement.

Let's face it. Most companies only care about one sale to many people. Sure they say they care, but when they truly stand behind their products and understand the needs of their customers they deserve recognition and the loyalty of consumers.

If you are having trouble walking your dog, please visit their web site and learn more about their harnesses and other products.

Now it’s Personal the Ants ate my Food!

Okay so my mom has been cleaning and complaining about all the ants in the house. I meanwhile have been trying to get a taste of they sticky sweet stuff that she's been putting out of my reach.

Today when we were going to get my breakfast, there they were. In MY food!

It was yucky, look at the pictures! See how exhausted I was when it was over?

Mom threw ALL of my food away and sprayed stinky stuff all over the container, and on the floor, and the walls and on the rug. I thought she was going to spray the entire house!

From what I could tell, there was at least 15 pounds of food in the trash and mom had to go and buy a whole new bag.

Here's my new opinion of ants. I hate them and will do my best to protect my food from those crawling doodie heads. I will stay out of mom's way when she is going after them and not try to eat the sweet bait she leaves for them. If I see them outside I will roll my toys over them and squish them before they can get my food again.

It's official - I HATE ANTS!

My 1st Conquest

My new home is a toy haven!

Apparently my late sister Sydney licked her toys but never bit them or did any damage. Elkhounds must be really gentle lol!

Well, I inherited a WHOLE basket full of fuzzy, squeaky toys. There's even toys outside! Mom calls them outside toys and won't let me bring them in the house. Whatever!

The very first toy that I got my paws on is a dark brown squirrel. It has a nice furry tail and, wait for it... SQUEAKS!

Squeaky toys make me so very happy! I hold them in my mouth and squeak away. The funny thing is that after a while they stop squeaking.

The squeaking lasted for two days. I was being careful and a little shy since this was a new place I was visiting. Surely it would have stopped sooner if I let myself go.

The stuffing lasted a little longer. On the 5th day I decided it was time to get to the bottom of the silence. There must be a way to turn the squeaking "on" again. So I am guessing that this is not allowed since mom picked up the fluffy stuff and put the squirrel on the table where I couldn't get it.
1st conquestSo much fun!

It's been years since I've had toys. The rescues and shelters had some but there were other dogs playing with them and none of them squeaked anyway.

Well, to be safe I thought I should hide my new toy in this strange planter. it wasn't really as deep as the ground but it will do. No one will ever find it here!No one will ever find my squirrel here

About Me

Hi All

My name is Jackson and I moved to my forever home on January 13, 2009. My Mom found me at Beagles and Buddies in El Monte, California on January 11th (her birthday!).

I love toys, especially the ones that squeak!

For those of you who are power chewers like me, I thought it would be helpful to document my exploration of toys. Let's see how many I can destroy before we find some winners!
